If you’re on Instagram, you’ll have seen this challenge; it’s a fun way to categorize some of your favorite/current reads 🙌 So here’s a glimpse into my favs! Maybe we’ll have a similar reading personality 😉
5 books I love
THIS SUMMER WILL BE DIFFERENT: Carley Fortune might be one of my new favorite authors. All her books take place in Canada and have a lake house vibe 🌲 It reminds me a lot of my family’s lake house in the northwoods of Wisconsin which is my favorite place to be! If you’re looking for excellent rom-com books, check her out!
THE TRUTH ABOUT FOREVER: Okay before you judge, this is one of my favorite YA books from when I was in high school. I devoured all of Sarah Dessen’s books and this one was a personal favorite. 16 year old Mallory reread it multiple times 😂
STORIES I ONLY TELL MY FRIENDS: This was the first autobiography I ever read (back in 2011) and I loved it so much. I couldn’t tell you if it was well-written or how many stars I would’ve given it, but I can tell you that I loved hearing his stories about making the Outsiders and Parks and Recreation!
YOU ARE A BADASS: This was the first personal growth book I ever read and I recommend it to anyone who wants to dip their toe into this genre. Jen Sincero’s voice is so relatable! She’s hilarious and gives you hope that even in the darkest moments, we have the ability to rise above and create the life we want 💪
THRONE OF GLASS: I recently read the entire Sarah J Maas catalog and I’m obsessed. I think I love the ‘Throne of Glass’ series the best because it’s completed 🤷♀️ but you can’t go wrong with SJM in general. Throne of Glass just has my heart and I’m still thinking about it…6 months later! LOL!
4 books on my TBR
Now, I haven’t read these books so I can’t tell you why I love them. At least not yet 🤪 Feel free to click on each image to see its rating + synopsis on GoodReads! Maybe even add it to your TBR, too.
3 books I recommend
SPARK OF THE EVERFLAME: My fantasy girlies, listen up! This series has 4 books, but the last one has yet to be released. (I know, I know… it should be out soon!) I thought these were on the same level as Sarah J Maas. The world building was 😚 and the character development was fantastic.
RILEY THORN SERIES: Looking for a fun mystery/romance series? Here you go! These 4 books are the perfect blend and definitely not too heavy. They were quick, easy reads that had me laughing out loud and the side characters are hilarious.
BOOK LOVERS: It was really hard to choose just one Emily Henry book because they’re all AMAZING. If you haven’t read her yet and love romance, do yourself a favor and run to her books. She can do no wrong. I also love that each of her main characters is, in some way, associated with writing/books. They might be an author, librarian, publisher, blogger…they always have a literary background/job!
HONORABLE MENTION: I don’t have any Abby Jimenez on here, but she’s up there with Emily and Carley for me. A great romance/rom-com writer that will make you smile!
2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ books
THE WOMEN: I don’t even want to tell you how many times this book wrecked me. I mean, it was BEAUTIFUL. It kept me guessing and shed light on the existence of a group of women who deserve all the recognition! Kristin Hannah is a fantastic historical fiction author and I will definitely be reading more!
ALL THE COLORS OF THE DARK: This book is such an anomly to me, LOL! Each chapter is only 1-3 pages long which made me feel like a super reader, but also was confusing at times 😂 Overall though, I thought the mystery was consistently good throughout. It spans a few decades and has a dual POV and the twists kept coming!

THE MIDNIGHT FEAST: Unfortunately, I’m currently reading this so I can’t give a full review. However, I hate to admit that I’m not loving it as much as I loved the Paris Apartment! But again, I’m only halfway through so I’ll keep you posted 😉
So do we have a similar reading personality?
